Tim and Bill aren’t superheroes? Okay, what are they, then?

Not in the conventional sense. Vigilante is a harsh word, but that’s their basic function.

Tim and Bill work for the city government, and in spite of their unusual methods, they keep the streets somewhat clean and the trains running on time (thanks to the fact that the tracks are clear of tied-down hostages). Tim may be a drunk and Bill may be… Bill, but if there’s one thing they’re both good at, it’s punching people.

What is that clock thing around Tim’s neck? Does it have something to do with time travel? Is that Tim’s super power?

Don’t worry about the clock. The clock is unimportant right now.

Does Tim even have powers?

(squirms in seat uncomfortably).

Does Bill?

Nope! He doesn’t.

I feel like I’m missing a lot of explanation, here.

That’s because you kind of are. Kind of. There is a story that explains the what/why/how of Silver Age (and it explains what the hell is up with Tim’s clock, I promise) but a webcomic is not exactly the ideal storytelling vehicle for that.

The reason I say “kinda” is because none of that stuff is really gonna be important in this webcomic. This is pretty much surface-level adventures with little to no baggage.

Why does Tim have blue hair?

Okay, fine. Tim is an alien from another dimension. Are you happy now?

…No. Now I’m just confused.

Well, you’ve made your bed, Mr Inquisitive, and now you’re going to have to lie in it.

Character Bios:

Tim

Tim
Tim is brave, cunning, and good at heart. He’s also really lazy, abrasive, and callous. The defacto leader of the The Bureau of Defense Against Nefarious Activity and Paranormal Instability, (phew!) Tim has a alot of responsiblity riding on his shoulders. He’s also kind of an alcoholic (alcoholism is hilarious!).

His casual indifference and implied arrogance rub people the wrong way, but deep down he wants what’s best for everybody. He just usually finds that somebody else will do it for him if he waits long enough (see Bill).

Bill

Bill
Bill is… a really nice guy. Really nice. He’s just kind of, you know… a little slow. Being inexplicably athletic, he likes to think of himself as “the brawns” of what he likes to think of as “the operation”, meaning that when Tim burns the last of his bridges to whoever he’s dealing with, Bill steps in to embarrass Tim further/accidentally evoke sympathy. Naive and trusting, Bill has the utmost misplaced faith in Tim.

About Silver Age:

Tim and Bill are vigilantes, working for the city. They get into hijinks. It’s about a thousand times more complicated than that, with a sprawling backstory (including time travel and alternate dimensions). But for now, that’s all you need to know.

About the author:

Charlie Gavin (on the back of the trike, dressed as Spider-Man or possibly a power ranger) is currently studying character animation at California Institute of the Arts. He writes and draws Silver Age in his spare time. His turn-ons include commitment and long walks on the beach.

Connor Gavin (in front) also writes Silver Age stuff from time to time. It’s kind of rare.
